Battery life estimates

Boston Power and Hewlett Packard have teamed together in the release of the latest green laptop battery . Learn more about the technology and the availability of a battery that is said to last for three years with no drop in performance.

New Enviro Series Notebook Battery

In their commitment to green computing, Hewlett Packard has developed a set of longer lasting batteries called the Enviro Series Notebook Battery through Boston Power. sony laptop battery After a development term of three years, the batteries have been released on the open market for online purchase in early March 2009 with retail store purchase to begin at the end of the month.

The green ideal behind the Enviro comes from its longer lasting power capabilities. VGP-BPS3 battery, VGP-BPS5 battery, Use of the Enviro over the long term will cut down the need for notebook users to constantly upgrade to get greater sustainable power. The batteries also come with a three-year warranty and will fit eighteen of HP’s current laptops which include most Pavilion and HDX series computers.

Standard laptop batteries begin to lose performance after 100-150 charges, where the Enviro batteries claim the ability to be charged over 1,000 times and still offer the laptop user the same performance as when the battery was new. The base of the Enviro’s power lies within the use of Boston Power’s Sonata lithium-ion battery cells which is what enables the higher level of performance over an indefinite amount of usage.

Another difference in sustainability with the Enviro batteries comes from their manufacturing. VGP-BPS5 Standard batteries(pavilion dv2000 battery , pavilion zv5000 battery ) are made from a combination of harmful environmental materials such as PVC and heavy metals all of which Boston Power has refused to implement in the batteries manufacturing.

Currently, this lithium ion hp laptop battery technology is the first to be both Nordic Ecolable and Chinese EPA certified based on stricter environmentally sustainable guidelines than that of the United States.

The Enviro currently retails for $149.99 which includes the three-year warranty. For more information on Boston Power’s developing projects and HP’s green technology distribution check out the following web sites:laptop battery (http://www.battery-base.com).

Dell Inspiron e1505 battery Review

Dell Inspiron e1505 is Dells 15.4″ widescreen notebook featuring the impressive new Intel Core Duo CPU. Inspiron E1505 A virtually identical Inspiron 6400 with inspiron 6400 battery is available through their business site. Outside it looks just like the Inspiron 6000 it replaces, but the new hardware inside makes for impressive performance. In traditional Dell style, the E1505 is well rounded, quite customizable and available at a competitive price, but doesn’t offer anything radical.

The E1505 reviewed here was configured as follows:

Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 at 2.0 GHz per core.

15.4″ Ultrasharp SXGA+ display with TrueLife

512MB DDR2 533MHz RAM in dual channel mode

Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

8X DVD +/- dual layer recorder

53 watt-hour 6-cell inspiron e1505 battery

Build and Design

The Inspiron e1505 matches much of the Dell lineup clad in painted silver with white trim on top and a black underside. I’m not a fan of painted finishes because they seem more susceptible to chips and scratches. The color scheme is simple, but I’m not a huge fan of the white trim “bumpers.”

The notebook is sturdy enough to feel comfortable lifting it by one corner. However,TD347 I would like better overall build quality. It is comparable to Sony and others but does not come near the solid (and expensive) IBM ThinkPad line. Just like my Inspiron 6000, there is a gap at the bottom of the LCD,the same battery code: GD761 , KD476 , TD347 . This area also gets quite warm. It must be where the LCD backlight or inverter is. I wonder if the gap is purposeful to allow some heat to escape.

The back of the screen is plastic, but very sturdy and a hard push won’t make ripples appear. The hinges seem sturdy and well damped. The screen latch is plastic. Some notebooks do away with latches entirely and use magnetic latching or nothing at all, which works surprisingly well.

Screen

I chose the highest screen option which is WSXGA+ (1680×1050) Ultrasharp with TrueLife (glossy). The Ultrasharp screen is listed at having significantly higher viewing angle, higher resolution, and slightly higher brightness. The wide viewing angle was my main interest. However, it seems about on par with most other mid- to high-end notebooks. It makes me think the lower screen options would be disappointing.

The screen is very sharp with nice saturated colors and high contrast. It is close,KD476 but not quite as bright as others I have reviewed. There is some light leakage near the bottom of the screen.

Battery:

With the smaller option 6 cell dell inspiron E1505 battery and a powerful new processor, I didn’t have very high hopes for battery life. However, the Dell lasted longer than expected. At maximum brightness, it played a DVD for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Under normal light tasks, with WiFi on and almost maximum brightness, the battery lasted almost three hours. Dimming the screen all the way and shutting wireless off squeezed almost 4 hours of total battery life. I could burn the battery in about 90 minutes or less if I really tried. Gaming would likely burn it this fast.

he optional 9-cell battery, the same quality as Dell GD761 ,KD476 , TD347 battery. which is the same physical size as the 6-cell, should give about 50% more run time.

The battery charges fast for the first 80%. At nearly 1% per minute, you could get a significant boost on a one hour layover at the airport.

A bigger battery might be a better choice than two batteries. Lithium-Ion cells wear out even if you don’t use them.

Conclusion:

The Dell Inspiron e1505 is a fairly run-of-the mill notebook for a bargain price, GD761 but it offers a few surprises. The 2 GHz Core Duo CPU is rockin’ fast. Even with this performance, dell inspiron e1505 battery life was impressive, and 5+ hours should be possible with the optional 9-cell battery. My only real gripe is with the screen. The slight shimmer, light leakage, and brightness that seems like it’s turned down half a notch make it fall behind other notebooks. Still, the screen is better than most bargain notebooks, and better than anything from a few years ago. It’s also very sharp and high resolution. This, along with the nice keyboard, makes for a positive ergonomic experience.

10 Tips on Maximizing Laptop Battery

I am on the planes a decent amount of the time (100,000 miles by late May) and tend to spend a chunk of my flights using my laptop. Most of the time it’s productive, but it can also include a DVD or the occasional game (either Nethack or Battle for Middle-Earth 2, sony laptop battery which are obviously similar). When I was a-hunting for a laptop, battery life was a key criterion in my selection process, as was weight. While I like my Vaio VGN SZ-160P, sony vgp-bps2c battery , the standard battery was lasting about 3 hours (the extended life clocks in under six hours before my tweaks), not enough for the SFO-JFK route (now switching to SFO-EWR as a default due to Manhattan traffic, which is a huge bummer because United’s P.S. flights have standard AC outlets on board).

So I did a lil’ Googlin’ for tips on extending battery life, and I found them all pretty, well, lacking. Stuff like “don’t try to do real-time 3d rendering” or “fully charge up your battery before flying.” One of them even said “buy an extra laptop battery .” Not exactly helpful (Sony’s tips are in the picture on the right). The most common tip that I’ve found truly deceptive is on disabling wireless: many claim it makes a huge impact to disable it, but personally I’ve only noticed a minor difference. PCGA-BP71 battery, VGP-BPL2 battery,VGP-BPS2A battery,VGP-BPS2 battery, I do in fact disable it (and Bluetooth) but on my Vaio the difference was about 10 minutes over 3 hours (but as I state below, it all adds up).

Alas, I’ve gone and done a lot of experimenting and have a list of my tips to really maximize battery life for my laptop.

Key to this process is having some good methodology. While testing, I kept a plain text file on my Desktop (creatively called “battery.txt”) tracking the real clock as well as Windows’ expected battery life. The problem with the Windows tool, is it really just tells you the current state of the battery based on the current system activity. This means if you start with 3 hours remaining then spend 30 minutes doing something that rapidly consumes the vgp-bps2c battery, VGP-BPL2 you’ll be down to 2 or less. In other words, you need to track the actual history/lifespan of your battery if you want to get the best information out of your system. You can check out my little tracking file for inspiration.

Brightness: how low can you go? Without any question, the fastest way to suck the life out of a battery is leaving your brightness high. Turn it down as low as you possibly can without needing to up your glasses prescription. On my Vaio, I can select from one of 8 levels. During one test, at brightness level 3 my system reported 60% full, with 3:52 (all times are hours:minutes) of life to go. I switched up to level 5 and in 17 minutes of use, I was down to 52% full, with 3:06 to go. In other words, 17 minutes used 46 minutes worth of battery (all other variables were held constant). PCGA-BP71 battery, VGP-BPL2 battery,VGP-BPS2A battery,VGP-BPS2 battery,You can even be so bold as to lower your brightness all the way down when sitting idle for a minute or two (for example, if you are writing a long blog post and pause to clarify your thoughts before typing).

Don’t use any external devices. USB and PC-Cards (aka PC-MCIA) use your laptop battery to function, even when you aren’t using them! Have an EVDO card or maybe a USB mouse? Remove them if you can. Even a memory card reader in your PC-MCIA slot uses power just by being in there. The effect varies based on the type of device, but even a few minutes here and there (as you’ll see) add up significantly.

Single-task, not multi-task. The more you are doing at the same time with your PC, the more memory and CPU usage increases.VGP-BPS2 Both of which directly use up battery. Close any applications you aren’t using, even the small ones. When doing some experimentation, I found it more efficient to run a single application at a time, then close it and open a new one when ready to move on. While your hard drive uses the battery too, if you are doing anything ‘productive’ you are probably hitting the drive on a regular (even if infrequent) basis anyway.

Keep it cool. You can take a page out of the extreme gamer’s handbooks, and have your system perform more optimally by keeping it cool. Make sure your air vents (inflow and outflow) aren’t blocked by anything, which often occurs by poorly positioning your notebook on your lap (which is known to have some other side-effects too, by the way). Heavy CPU and memory use all contribute to heat as well, hence my comment on multi-tasking above.

Shut down unused services. MSN Messenger, Google Desktop Search, QuickTime, wireless managers, etc. They’ve all gotta go. You probably aren’t going to use them, and they all eat up valuable resources. Especially things that ’scan’ anything. For advanced users, I also recommend launching Windows Task Manager and getting rid of anything not used in-flight. In fact, I put together another little text file with a list of all the services I don’t use, and I go down the list and manually shut down each one. If you really want to get this one right, a little bit of research is in order. While online, I launched the task manager (control-shift-escape) and for each service that has my User Name, I googled it. There are a few good web sites out there which chronicle what all these mysterious services do, and you should be able to figure out which you need, and which you don’t. Important warning: if you aren’t comfortable with this lingo, you should skip this step, or get some techie friend to help you out. Less important warning: you may end up in a situation where you need to do a reboot after you get to your destination.

Do Hibernate, VGP-BPS2A Do Not Suspend. I’ve found that my Vaio tends to use way too much battery when in suspend mode. Not sure why, but the ‘instant-on’ effect isn’t worth the extra 30-60 seconds it takes to get out of hibernation. Furthermore, the minor hit to the hard drive is unlikely to have a significant impact to your overall vgp bps2c battery time. Also, if you weren’t aware, going in and out of hibernate is much better than a full startup/shutdown sequence. Note that you might need to manually enable Hibernate as a system option (once you have, the quick shortcut into it is ‘windows button’ followed by U followed by H,PCGA-BP71 battery, VGP-BPL2 battery,VGP-BPS2A battery,VGP-BPS2 battery, and some PCs will have even faster shortcuts available as well). If you make a run to the bathroom, however, that’s worth a quick Standby, but anything over 10 minutes and I’d Hibernate instead.

Tweak advanced settings. Virtually all laptops manufactured in the past 24 months have some advanced power options. Mine, for example, allows me to go into 16-bit color mode, force the CPU into a power-saving mode, disable my LAN port, and more. This might seem obvious, but if you aren’t doing it already, go find these settings (probably in the control panel, or possibly through custom software provided by your manufacturer) and get aggressive with them! If you don’t have any extra control, one good extra tip is to manually force your screen into lower color modes, as they use less CPU overall and can make a huge difference in the long run. While you are at it, you might want to change your Alarms settings, as many laptops default to shutting down with as much as 10% of your battery still available (my Low Battery is just an alert at 5%, and my Critical is force hibernate at 1%)!

Choose Wisely. Good: Word, Excel, Outlook,PCGA-BP71 Text Editors. Bad: anything by Adobe (you think Microsoft has bloatware, have you noticed how long even Acrobat takes to launch these days???), all Google plugins, many ‘Widgets’, ‘Gadgets’, etc. All I can say is pick your battles wisely. 50 minutes of a video game ate up over 2 hours of my sony vgp bps2c battery time, whereas writing email or documents tend to use up less than what Windows predicts (about 105% of the estimate on average). I’ve also found WinDVD is right on the money for battery consumption, and Windows Media Player is a little power-hungry (by the way, if you are using your laptop to play music make certain you disable visualizations). On that note, don’t use your laptop to play music unless absolutely necessary, it’s a real resource killer.

Watch That Hard Drive. I just wrote, don’t play music, but the reason is mostly about your drive. The more it spins, the more power it takes. Make sure you’ve set your basic power option to turn off your drive relatively fast, but not necessarily too fast. Some drives use more power getting started than staying running for short periods of time. I set my Vaio to turn off the disk after 3 minutes of inactivity, you may want more, you may want less. At the end of the day, if you are doing anything that prevents the hard drive from spinning down ever,PCGA-BP71 battery, VGP-BPL2 battery,VGP-BPS2A battery,VGP-BPS2 battery, you are draining your battery more than needed.

Like a Boy Scout, Be Prepared. I make a point of configuring my ‘flight mode’ prior to getting on the plane. It may only take 5-10 minutes to get your system setup properly, but that just eats into your sony vgp bps2c battery life if you wait to do it on the plane. Once done with all the settings, the last thing I do before unplugging my power supply is hibernating the PC.

I hope some of these tips help you out. Personally, I add around 30 minutes (or more) to the longevity of my standard battery (3:30 on average now), and almost an hour on the extended one (6:30 or so). This gives me almost 10 hours of combined life (4 full DVDs guaranteed), which suits me quite well.

HP Laptop Battery Tips

Defragmet your hard drive regularly - The less your hard drive spins - less demand you are going to put on the hard drive and your battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly.

2. Dim your screen - Most laptops come with the ability to dim your laptop screen. hp laptop battery Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance.F2024B, F2024A, Omnibook XE3
346970-001, Cut them down to the lowest level you can tolerate to squeeze out some extra HP xps m1330 battery juice.

3. Cut down on programs running in the background - Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and cut down HP xps m1330 battery life. Shut down everything that isn't crucial when you're on battery.

4. Cut down external devices - USB devices (including your mouse) & WiFi drain down your HP xps m1330 battery. Remove or shut them down when not in use. It goes without saying that charging other devices with your laptop when on battery is a surefire way of quickly wiping out the charge on your laptop battery.

5. Add more RAM - This will allow you to process more with the memory your HP laptop has, rather than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory results in hard drive use, and is much less power efficient. Note that adding more RAM will consume more energy, Omnibook XE3 so this is most applicable if you do need to run memory intensive programs which actually require heavy usage of virtual memory.

6. Run off a hard drive rather than CD/DVD - As power consuming as hard drives are, CD and DVD drives are worse. Even having one in the drive can be power consuming.

7. Keep the battery contacts clean - Clean your xps m1330 battery' s metal contacts every couple of months with a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. This keeps the transfer of power from your HP battery more efficient.

8. Take care of your battery - Exercise the Battery. Do not leave a charged xps m1330 battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks. Also,F2024B, F2024A, Omnibook XE3
346970-001, do not let a HP li-ion battery completely discharge. (Discharing is only for older batteries with memory effects)

9. Hibernate not standby - Although placing a laptop in standby mode saves some power and you can instantly resume where you left off, it doesn't save anywhere as much power as the hibernate function does. Hibernating a PC will actually save your PC's state as it is, F2024A, and completely shut itself down.

10. Keep operating temperature down - Your HP laptop operates more efficiently when it's cooler. Clean out your air vents with a cloth or keyboard cleaner.

11. Set up and optimize your power options - Go to 'Power Options' in your windows control panel and set it up so that power usage is optimized (Select the 'max battery' for maximum effect).

Don’t multitask - Do one thing at a time when you're on battery. Rather than working on a spreadsheet, letting your email client run in the background and listening to your latest set of MP3's, set your mind to one thing only. If you don't you'll only drain out your HP laptop battery before anything gets completed!

13. Go easy on the PC demands - The more you demand from your HP notebook computer, passive activities like email and word processing consume much less power than gaming or playing a DVD. If you're got a single battery charge - pick your priorities wisely.

14. Get yourself a more efficient laptop - Laptops are getting more and more efficient in nature to the point where some manufacturers are talking about all day long batteries. F2024B, F2024A, Omnibook XE3
346970-001, Picking up a newer more efficient laptop to replace an aging one is usually a quick fix.

15. Turn off the autosave function - MS-Word or Excel's autosave functions are great but because they keep saving regular intervals,346970-001, they work your hard driver harder than it may have to. If you plan to do this, you may want to turn it back on as the battery runs low. While it saves battery life in the beginning, you will want to make sure your work is saved when your HP xps m1330 battery dies.

Does your laptop battery spend more time?

Does your laptop spend more time on your desk than your lap? If so, you're probably causing your battery to wear out much sooner than it needs to.

See, it's a sad (and expensive) fact of life: hp laptop battery You're lucky to get 18-24 months from a battery before it loses a good chunk of its charge capacity (meaning it no longer powers your laptop for as long as it used to).

And you're accelerating this unfortunate timeframe if you leave your laptop plugged in 24/7, which is common for most folks who work at a desk. Because the battery rarely (if ever) gets a chance to discharge, it loses its capacity to hold a charge.

HP, Dell, Toshiba recall Sony laptop batteries again

The simple solution: Pull the battery out of the laptop and leave it out when you're deskbound. Most laptops can run on straight AC power,346970-001, HSTNN-DB02, HSTNN-UB02, DP390A, so there's no need for the battery. And it's easy enough to pop back in when you hit the road (though obviously you'll want to make sure it's charged, so plan ahead a bit).

It's a hassle, sure, but consider the price of a replacement battery: usually US$100 or more. What's more, old, discarded batteries wreak havoc on landfills. Sooner or later, they'll leak acid into the ground. So it's in your best interests to keep your battery as long as possible, HSTNN-DB02, and to keep it from dying a premature death.

Three of the biggest laptop computer makers are recalling certain batteries because of a risk they may overheat and catch fire. Sony made the batteries and the recall mirrors -- yet appears a lot smaller than -- a similar one that occurred two years ago.

This time, around 100,000 batteries are affected, a fraction of the 9.6 million recalled in 2006. Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Toshiba have already issued recalls for the batteries that were used in their products and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said "consumers should stop using recalled products immediately."

The batteries in question were manufactured between October 2004 and June 2005 and to date there have been about 40 incidents reportedly globally of overheating, Sony said Friday.

Most of the incidents are believed to be due to manufacturing line adjustments made during the period that may have affected some batteries, Sony said. Additionally some may have been due to raw material flaws.

Of the 100,000 batteries affected, around 35,000 were used in laptops shipped in the U.S. By far the greatest number, about 32,000, were shipped with HP laptops.

The maker said it is recalling batteries that have a barcode label beginning with A0, L0, L1 or GC that were shipped with HP Pavilion dv1000, dv8000 and zd8000 models; with Compaq Presario v2000 and v2400 machines and with HP Compaq nc6110, nc6120, nc6140, nc6220, nc6230,nx4800, HSTNN-UB02, nx4820, nx6110, nx6120 and nx9600 computers.

Toshiba's U.S. recall covers around 3,000 Satellite A70/A75, P30/P5, M30X/M35X and M50/M55 laptops and Tecra A3, A5 and S2 computers.

Dell is recalling battery model OU091 in Latitude 110L and Inspiron 1100,346970-001, HSTNN-DB02, HSTNN-UB02, DP390A, 1150, 5100, 5150 and 5160 computers.

Consumers who believe they have batteries that have been recalled should stop using the batteries and check with their PC vendor.

An additional 2,000 batteries were shipped in the Japanese market and the remaining 63,000 went to consumers in other regions,DP390A, including Europe and Asia. Recall notices for machines shipped in these other regions are expected to be issued shortly.

HP targets netbooks with new laptop battery

Countering the netbook craze, Hewlett-Packard on Tuesday introduced a thin and light laptop, hp laptop battery the Pavilion DV2Z, which will deliver full PC functionality at a competitive price.

The laptop will offer more processing power and graphics capabilities than its predecessor, the Pavilion DV2, which was launched in January. It will be powered by Advanced Micro Devices' new dual-core Neo chip, an upgrade from the single-core Neo chip in the original DV2.

The laptop will include a 12.1-inch screen and weigh around 3.81 pounds (1.7 kilograms).PP2100, Presario R3000(r3000), Presario X6000, It will be around an inch at its thinnest point. HP didn't provide an estimated battery life for the laptop.

Users will get stronger graphics with the AMD's Radeon 3200 integrated graphics, which will be part of the Congo platform of chips. That should enable faster decoding of high-definition content and provide a better overall multimedia experience than traditional netbooks.

HP will provide up to 500GB of storage, and offer optical drive options like Blu-ray with the laptop. The company is also offering a separate graphics card as an option. The company said orders for the laptop can be placed at HP's Web site, but didn't provide an actual ship date.

Priced starting at US$599,PP2100, the strong features make DV2Z a giant upgrade over netbooks, which are typically priced between $300 and $500 and offer limited functionality. AMD puts thin and light laptops like the DV2Z in the category of consumer PCs called "ultrathin" laptops, which provide PC functionality at affordable prices without compromising on features.

Ultrathin laptops are as portable as netbooks and provide adequate performance to run most applications, like high-definition multimedia, casual gaming and productivity applications.

The chip company contends that netbooks, though cheap, provide limited functionality, while ultraportables like MacBook Air are too expensive, with prices above US$1,500. AMD faces competition in the ultrathin space from rival Intel, which announced new single-core chips for ultrathin laptops last week. Those chips have been adopted by PC makers like Lenovo and MSI.

HP also launched the Pavilion DV3T laptop, which is priced starting at $649. The laptop has a 13.3-inch screen and weighs under five pounds. The laptops are powered by Intel chips and run the Windows Vista OS. The DV3T supports up to 500GB of storage and 8GB of memory.PP2100, Presario R3000(r3000), Presario X6000, The laptop comes with a six-cell battery that provides about four hours of battery life, or an optional 9-cell battery that provides 7 hours of battery life.

Other new laptops, including HP Pavilion DV6T, which starts $649, and Pavilion DV6Z Artist Edition 2, Presario R3000(r3000), which starts at $949, include 16-inch screens and are loaded with multimedia features. The laptops run Intel chips and come with the Windows Vista OS.

New laptops, netbooks...and hints of a competitor to iTunes? Asus has a lot up its sleeve these days, but let's start with the netbook that some folks in the press circles are comparing to a MacBook: the Eee PC 1008HA.

It's thin, sleek, and light. I had a chance to play with one, and I'll tell you one thing: Asus may be spitting out more revisions of its netbook line than I can count, but at least its designers are continuing to look at ways to refine the machine. The proof is in this new $420 netbook.

Though I couldn't steal the 1008HA away from its PR handlers to lock away in our labs, I did get a few minutes for a quick test-drive. So consider this a hands-on teaser of what's in store for when the unit ships.

Under its frosty exterior, the system sports current netbook innards: an Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth, 802.11n, and a three-cell battery (just don't ask me about the battery life yet).

The 92-percent full-size keyboard is big and comfortable, with a good layout. The buttons felt firm and large enough to type up a quick story. Even the metallic mouse-button bar was reasonably secure. That said, I'm a little concerned about the touchpad. On the device that I tried, I found little indication between where the touch area ends and where the wrist rest begins. But the spokesperson on hand assured me that the final unit will have bigger grooves so that users can feel their way around without having to eyeball the strike zone.

To accommodate its thin-and-light design, the creators of the 1008HA dropped a few ports--and made an interesting design move in the process. In a hidden compartment on the netbook's bottom sits a VGA adapter dongle. When you need it,PP2100, Presario R3000(r3000), Presario X6000, you simply pop it out and plug it into the mini-USB port on one side of the machine. It's a pretty smart move that keeps the functionality while cutting down the size, and it minimizes the chance of losing dongles. (I also have to give props to Sony's VAIO P netbook, Presario X6000, which sneaks the VGA dongle onto its power supply...but I digress.) Otherwise, on the 1008HA you'll find hiding behind flaps the usual retinue--an ethernet hookup, two USB ports, an SD Card reader, and headphone and microphone jacks.

One last thing that I need to mention is the sneak peek I had at the software that Asus plans to bring to its future machines. My contact at the company let me smuggle out these pictures, though he isn't certain whether the 1008HA will actually ship with the software. Here's hoping that it will.

dell inspiron 1505 laptop battery review

When we last reviewed the Dell Inspiron E1505 (dell e1505 battery), dell laptop Battery the notebook’s rich multimedia features, wireless performance, and strong battery life garnered it an Editors’ Choice award. Now, Dell follows up the E1505 with the 1501 ($844, as tested here), a low-priced alternative and the first Dell machine to house an AMD processor. It’s also Vista capable and Premium ready–something you’re not going to find with run-of-the-mill value notebooks. The 1501 (inspiron 1520 battery )gives you solid performance at a decent price, but what you gain in savings you lose in functionality. The inexpensive Dell Inspiron 1501 doesn’t have all the extra media-centric features or quick-launch keys you’ll find on similarly priced notebooks from Acer and Hewlett-Packard. This $974 laptop does have other things going for it, however—namely, respectable performance and a superb display.Decked out in silver, white, and dark gray, Inspiron 630m, Inspiron 640m, Y9943, RC107
Latitude D620, 312-0386, the Inspiron 1501 won’t be mistaken for a business notebook, but its looks are suitably understated for the meeting room. The laptop measures 1.4×14×10.5 inches and weighs 6.2 pounds, straddling the line between travel companion and stay-at-home desktop replacement. It has a sturdy build, too, and feels like it could take a few knocks. The 15.4-inch WXGA (1,280×800-resolution) display, which uses Dell’s contrast-improving TrueLife technology, is definitely a highlight. Text was sharp, and DVDs and Vista’s Aero interface looked great. An integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 (dell d820 battery )adapter that shares up to 256MB of system memory powers the graphics. Casual gamers won’t be disappointed with this chip. The 1501 came configured with a six-cell battery, which enabled us to go unplugged for a solid 3 hours and 16 minutes of life with Wi-Fi on, and an additional two minutes with the wireless connection off. Wireless throughput measured a robust 12.6 Mbps at 15 feet from our access point, and 13.2 Mbps from 50. This is a slight improvement over the E1505’s measurements of 12 Mbps and 9.9 Mbps from the same distances.Despite the missing multimedia controls, the 1501 offers plenty of other ports and jacks: four USB, VGA, headphone and microphone jacks, and a 3-in-1 memory card reader.

This is a step down from the E1505, which featured all of those connections plus S-Video, FireWire, a 5-in-1 card reader, and optional Bluetooth. You’ll also find an ExpressCard slot, but nothing for a PCMost of the owners of Inspiron laptops criticize the design of their computers. Not surprisingly, most of the modified laptops are Inspirons e1505/1501 (dell b120 battery , dell b130 battery). In my opinion, designers were having an “off day” when they created those white bumpers. Maybe the most annoying thing about the design is that certain parts of the notebook do not match others. Inspiron 630m For example, the keyboard, touchpad, and screen have a “keep-it-simple” design (nothing shinny, nothing stylish) while the back of the lid makes a quite different impression.

Despite these style blemishes, the Dell Inspiron 1501 (dell latitude d620 battery )has some charm in its design. The overall build quality is quite good. The chassis feels sturdy, it does not creak when lifted on any of the corners. Applying even a quite strong force on the back of the lid does not make ripples on the screen appear. The screen hinges are tough and keep LCD in place. You will need to use both hands to open the lid. That said, there are places which deform when excessive pressure is applied, 312-0386 but this isn’t an issue. The one negative might be that the screen latch does not feel sturdy — it has a “floating” feeling as you can both move it up/down and left/right — but it holds the screen perfectly well.A very nice feature is that you only need to remove two screws to access the memory modules, WiFi card or HDD.

A little more effort is required to access the CPU (I was not that curious).Inspiron 630m, Inspiron 640m, Y9943, RC107
Latitude D620, 312-0386, Other budget notebooks we’ve seen have dedicated media-player controls, independent buttons for switching off wireless radios, and a healthy assortment of input/output options, but the Inspiron 1501 falls very short in this area. If having extras like these (and a few more configuration options) is important to you, we recommend stepping up to Dell’s Inspiron E1505 (dell xps m1530 battery). For a couple of hundred dollars more, you get slightly improved specs and lots of extras. Most users, however, will be satisfied with the basic array of connectivity here: four USB 2.0 ports, mic and headphone jacks, a VGA monitor out, an SD/MultiMediaCard slot, and Ethernet and modem ports. Also aboard are an ExpressCard slot and a double-layer DVD±RW drive. The keyboard function keys are marked with icons for easy access to actions such as adjusting volume and screen brightness, switching to an external monitor, and turning on and off the built-in 802.11b/g wireless networking.Inspiron 640m The keyboard itself is a bit mushy for our tastes, as are the touch-pad buttons, though all are a comfortable size. Speakers at the front of the notebook push (hp dv6000 battery) out clear, loud sound.Dell did a good job outfitting our review model with capable core hardware. Its dual-core 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 processor, aided by 2GB of DDR2 memory, turned in impressive results in our tests and certainly has enough pep to run Vista Home Premium. Battery life was comparable with that of other notebooks in its class, which means it’ll get less than two hours on a full charge (1 hour and 41 minutes, to be exact). For storage, our test unit had a 60GB hard drive. Factor in formatting, as well as the space taken up by the OS, its applications, miscellaneous software Dell includes, and the partitioned section for the built-in system restore, and you’re left with only 40GB. The other notebooks in this roundup have the same problem, but because they have 120GB drives, plenty of room is still left over for files. If you’re not using the notebook as a primary computer, you can get by with 40GB, but an extra $35 will buy you an upgrade to an 80GB drive.

Dell includes a standard one-year parts-and-labor warranty, as well as 24/7 tech support.Although the Dell Inspiron 1501 demonstrated stronger wireless performance than the Dell Inspiron E1505 (dell d400 battery)and has a lower price point, we can’t recommend the notebook over its far more functional predecessor. If you’re looking for a decent machine that won’t break the bank, it’s worth a look. Just remember, you get exactly what you pay for.Anyone buying a PC from a well known manufacturer like Dell, HP or IBM hopes to get a good customer support. No surprise,Inspiron 630m, Inspiron 640m, Y9943, RC107
Latitude D620, 312-0386, Dell provides fast and pleasant-to-use support.RC107

I had to contact them about several minor questions and replies came back very fast. After several weeks I noticed that my laptop did not have a DVD-RW, it only had a DVD Combo. Since DVD-RW is a necessity nowadays and the optical drive cannot be changed in this PC, I went directly to the retailer. They contacted a local Dell office and I got my refund in two days. Sadly, I had to buy a new laptop or risk losing a tax refund from the government. Because they did not have any Dells left in stock, I had to go with another PC. ?

dell Latitude D800 laptop review(2)

Build & Design

The D800 has a magnesium alloy body that is supposed to protect the laptop from flexing and the wear-and-tear of corporate travel and use. dell laptop Battery The whole underside and lid of the laptop feel like metal but, unfortunately, the wrist rests are plastic. Thus, there is some amount of flex when handling that area but by no means is the amount of flex disturbing. The rest of the notebook, however, is very rigid.

Screen

The screen is most likely the Achilles heel of the D800, if it has one. The screen is 15.4″ diagonal and is matte, not glossy. The trend in most consumer notebooks is towards the glossy screens which feature vivid colors and higher brightness for the benefit of gaming, movie-watching, and photo-viewing. Most business machines, however, still come with the old-style matte screens which are more suited for office rather than multimedia tasks. Unfortunately, the D800’s matte screen is not very bright and the higher brightness settings drain the battery quickly..Latitude D830 battery, MM165 battery, YD626 battery, 312-0393 battery, Latitude D800 battery, A cool feature is the automatic light-sensor which adjusts screen brightness based on ambient light conditions. MM165 This is useful when running on battery power or when using the notebook in different settings but I ended up turning this feature off because it oftentimes results in an unacceptably dim screen.

My D800 came with the WSXGA+ (1680×1050) screen. The other options were the base WXGA+ (1280×800) screen and the ultra-high resolution WUXGA (1900×1200). I am used to the WSXGA+ resolution on my Dell monitor and I chose it because I thought it was a good balance between screen real estate and legibility of fonts and icons. I could have gone with the highest resolution option and increased the Windows DPI and font sizes (indeed the WSXGA+ and WUXGA models ship with 120 DPI setting out of the box) but browsers and other applications do not always adhere to Windows settings. I changed the 120DPI setting to 96DPI because it made Windows fonts too large and screwed up graphics on web pages. I think I made the right choice here because the WUXGA display would have yielded fonts and icons too small for even my young eyes.

Sound & Multimedia

It is no secret that laptop speakers are bad. They usually feature tinny sound, distorted highs, and nonexistent bass. The Latitude D800’s speakers are no exception though admittedly not the worst I’ve heard. The D800 (dell inspiron 1520 battery )being a business machine, I didn’t expect any better. At least on the D800 you get stereo sound with a speaker on either side of the keyboard; on its cousin the Latitude D620 there is but one speaker. The volume is adequate for me but I don’t like to listen to music at high volumes. Using Sennheiser HD-202 headphones plugged into the side-mounted headphone jack, the sound improves significantly and is clear,YD626 accurate, and mostly distortion-free. The sound subsystem on the D800 is controlled by the Sigmatel audio chipset.

The D800 provides just volume control and mute buttons above the keyboard as opposed to the various media buttons found on most consumer laptops. While not absolutely necessary on a business notebook,.Latitude D830 battery, MM165 battery, YD626 battery, 312-0393 battery, Latitude D800 battery, it would have been nice to have a few more control buttons like play, pause, etc. for controlling Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, or WinAmp.

Processor & Graphics Performance

My D800 came with a 1.83GHz Core Duo processor and by all measures it’s a speed demon. I choose two 512MB sticks (total 1GB) to take advantage of dual channel memory capability which in theory doubles the bandwidth of the pipe from the RAM to the memory controller. I also chose the 667MHz RAM over the standard 533MHz. I wasn’t sure of the utility of this faster memory but my logic was that the Core Duo has a 667MHz front side bus and I would need the RAM to match that speed if I were to maximize performance. Startup times on my D800 (dell inspiron b120 battery )(dell inspiron b130 battery)are fast but not as fast as I expected. The machine takes 28.34 seconds to reach the login screen from a cold boot. Thus far the laptop has been snappy in every day usage such as internet browsing and word processing as well as during benchmarking. Applications load quickly as do Control Panel and My Computer and there’s a good degree of responsiveness to all user inputs. I have not had a single hang, lockup, freeze, or BSOD so far. I haven’t installed any games on this machine so I cannot attest to the performance of the Quadro NVS 120 graphics solution, the workstation version of NVIDIA’s consumer GeForce 7400 graphics solution. Do not expect stellar game performance out this card however my D800 received 670 3DMarks on the 3DMark06 benchmark.

Heat & Noise

For the most part I was very pleased by the amount of heat and noise emitted by the D800 (dell inspiron e1705 battery ). 312-0393 When idling or performing everyday tasks the fan speed is very slow resulting in relatively silent computing. When performing more demanding tasks (such as during the Battery Eater Pro burn-in and battery life test or rendering 3D graphics) the fan speeds up but it is not at all offensive. The only caveat is the Philips DVD-RW drive. Compared to the rest of the notebook, it sounds like a turbofan engine spooling up when it reads a CD or DVD. Moreover, the drive is not well damped causing the whole notebook body to shudder as the drive spins.

Dell has designed the D800 for excellent heat dissipation. There are two exhaust vents: one on the side and one on the rear. The left wrist rest heats up a tiny bit after a long period of operation and the right wrist rest stays completely cool throughout. Touching the underside of the laptop after the ~2 hour Battery Eater Pro stress test I found that the laptop was warm but certainly not hot enough to preclude lap-top usage for an extended period of time. The power brick stays cool even after days of keeping the notebook plugged into the wall.Latitude D830 battery, MM165 battery, YD626 battery, 312-0393 battery, Latitude D800 battery, In short, Dell has done a superb job of managing the heat emitted by the D800’s high performance components.

Conclusion

In summary, the Latitude D800 is a very nice choice for the desk jockey professional or student. This machine, with its 15.4″ widescreen, is not meant for world travel but for flexibility, productivity, and a little bit of portability. At a pinch it can be used on a plane or on a lap but, for the most part, Latitude D800 I would not travel extensively with the D800. For its form factor, however, I do not think you will find a better balance between portability and build quality than the Latitude D800. I would wholeheartedly recommend this notebook to anyone looking for an effective tool to get some serious work done.

dell latitude d820 laptop review(1)

dell latitude d820 laptop review(1)

Traditionally Dell has had two primary sections in the notebook department, one for business and one for consumers. The business section, unsurprisingly, would consist of notebooks right for business, a spartan or basic configuration containing only those options truly needed to do your work. Consumers, dell laptop Battery on the other hand, had more choices in terms of options for multimedia enhancements, different designs, or maybe even more cutting edge technology built-in. But now times have changed and both selections have overlapping configurations for each notebook flavor.

The business section is basically divided into two series,Inspiron 8500 battery, 8N544 battery, Inspiron 8600 battery, Inspiron 6400 battery, Inspiron E1505 battery, Precision and Latitude. Precisions are more cutting edge technology, sacrificing some stability for the latest features, which might have some instability possibly caused by new drivers. Latitudes are the more conventional choice for businesses offering increased stability due to being built on a proven platform.

Today we have the pleasure of reviewing the Latitude D820 (dell latitude d820 battery)series which falls into the high-end of the Latitude range and it’s our very first of many new notebook reviews here at TweakTown. While this notebook is listed under Dell’s business section it actually boasts some nice features for an entertainment system, including a WUXGA display (that is 1900×1200 pixels to you and me) and HD audio.

Is this a perfect all round notebook for work (boo!) and fun (yay!)? Let us get cracking on this review and find out

As a high school graduation gift, my parents bought me a Dell Latitude D820 15.4″Inspiron 8500 widescreen notebook. While Dell’s Inspiron line is squarely aimed at the consumer market, the Latitude line is geared more towards the academic, small business, and corporate user. This is evidenced by the Latitudes’ superior build quality, sober styling, lack of media-centric features, and higher price. Price-wise and size-wise, the Latitude D820 (dell latitude d620 battery)sits atop the thin-and-light 14″ widescreen D620 and the budget oriented 14″ standard-aspect D520 in the Latitude lineup. The D820 is an updated version of the D810 and features the Intel Core Duo processor to replace the D810’s Pentium M as well a significant weight reduction from the D810. According to CNET Labs

Features Overview

While the HP had the nicest graphics card of them all (ATI Radeon x1600) and would have allowed me to play the latest games, I ruled it out because of price (>$2,000). My budget was limited to ~$1,500 max.

The IBM ThinkPad has long been legendary in the corporate world for its durable portability, excellent support, and strong management software suit. I came to the decision, however, that I did not want to pay the significant ,Inspiron 8500 battery, 8N544 battery, Inspiron 8600 battery, Inspiron 6400 battery, Inspiron E1505 battery, premium for the ThinkPad’s class-leading ruggedness, which I probably had no use for anyway. The ThinkPad T60 was aimed more towards the road warrior. I, however, was not going to be traveling much with the laptop save for the occasional trek from the dorm to the library and back.

That left me with the perennial value-king Dell. For hundreds of dollars cheaper than a similarly spec’d 14″Inspiron 8600 ThinkPad T60, I was able to price out a 15.4″ Dell Latitude D820. A comparably equipped D620 checked in at about $150 less. I settled on the D820 (dell inspiron 1525 battery)because I figured I wouldn’t be traveling much with this notebook and would not be carrying it to class on a daily basis. Thus, I thought I would benefit more from the increased productivity of the D820’s 15.4″ screen (and higher resolution) than the increased portability of the D620.

Shopping Experience

When we purchased my machine, Dell was having a sale which involved a $350 instant rebate on all Latitudes, sweetening the deal some more. I configured the machine on the Dell Small Busines website. Almost every component of the machine was highly configurable, something that IBM/Lenovo and HP could learn from, and the online shopping experience was, overall, very pleasant. After having pulled the trigger, I realized that I did not select the option for the Bluetooth card. I called up Dell Small Business and asked them to add the card. It was too late to modify my original order but the associate was very helpful. Though the sale price was no longer in effect for the new order, Inspiron 6400she let me add the discount retroactively. The wait times to speak to an agent were negligible (definitely not the case with my past experiences with Dell Home) and the agent herself was polite and helpful. The total price for my D820 (after adding the Bluetooth card) came to $1496.25, which I felt was a good deal, especially since the Latitude line rarely goes on sale.

First Impressions

When I first uncased the D820 from its Styrofoam packaging,,Inspiron 8500 battery, 8N544 battery, Inspiron 8600 battery, Inspiron 6400 battery, Inspiron E1505 battery, I was impressed by the solidness of its build. It felt sturdy and the laptop casing didn’t flex when handled. The case is billed as being magnesium alloy and most of the notebook’s body looks as if it is. The laptop was about as thin as I expected but it was a bit heavier than I thought it would be. It’s not an uncomfortable heft but one that implies a certain quality of build. At first glance, the notebook is not awe-inspiring but it is pleasing to the eye with an understated charcoal gray finish. At first blush, a tastefully styled (though by no means beautiful) and well-built notebook. Also included in the packaging were the user manual, software and OS CDs, Inspiron E1505and the AC power adapter.

how long your laptop battery can use a time??

According to the SATA specifications a SATA hard drive conserves a bit more energy than regular ATA. While this spec also provides more bandwidth for improved I/O performance, the typical notebook hard drive will not benefit.dell laptop Battery The biggest benefit to SATA in a current notebook is that you will be able to upgrade to a larger capacity in a few years when regular ATA is just a memory.

Even with Turbo Cache and the boosted video memory, you might have a hard time playing a really demanding game like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the dell laptop battery. It should play older or less demanding games nicely. GD761 battery, KD476 battery, TD347 battery,1G222 battery In 3DMark05 the dell laptop battery pa3399u-1brs scored a disappointing 1,665 points. This is a bit slower than last year’s NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 and well off the pace of the ATI’s Mobility RADEON X600 and X700 (older technology that now competes at this price point). If you need the fastest video system, Toshiba recently introduced a gamer-centric version of the dell laptop battery that uses the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS (Toshiba Satellite P105-S921). We will try to get our hands on one for a review.

While you won’t be playing the latest games, you will be able to enjoy movies on the dell laptop battery pa3465u-1brs . NVIDIA’s GeForce Go 7300 includes NVIDIA’s PureVideo technology for hardware acceleration of High Definition (battery) video content. Unlike ATI who limits battery playback performance based on the GPU (i.e. you need to buy the fastest video chip in order to hardware decode the highest resolution battery content), even the least expensive NVIDIA chips that support PureVideo will decode any type of battery content. Sadly, you will need to buy either NVIDIA’s decoder or DVD playback software designed to take advantage of the GeForce Go 7300’s capabilities.

Audio

The last generation of the Centrino platform introduced Intel’s High Definition Audio specification. GD761 This replaced AC/97, which was getting very long in the tooth. It is essentially a competent soft audio solution coupled with a good quality multi-channel codec.

Toshiba uses the Conexant CX20551-22 audio codec. I have not seen (or heard) this chip before and could not find product information for it on Conexant’s website, but I must say that it sounds great when pumping audio to the Harman Kardon speakers. They were easily the best speakers I have tested on a laptop.

Wireless and Communications

Intel’s Pro Wireless 3945 ABG solution works great and covers all of the current wireless LAN standards. 802.11A is not very common, but that is exactly its appeal. In WiFi congested neighborhoods it is nice to be able to pa3356u-1brs use the relative uncrowded 5GHz band of 802.11A (you will need a router that supports it though).

Toshiba’s Toshiba ConfigFree software does a great job of keeping you connected. I have always liked this software — much like IBM’s ThinkVantage software I think it help differentiate Toshiba’s products from the competition.

There is no Bluetooth, but I am not sure that this is a feature most home users really want or need. GD761 battery, KD476 battery, TD347 battery,1G222 battery Personally I can’t live without it as I have numerous devices that require it (such as cell phones). ?

A Built-in multinational 56K V.90 modem, and 10/100 Ethernet are provided in case you have to revert to wried mode.

Ports and Slots

The dell laptop battery includes the common CardBus slot. KD476 No ExpressCard toshiba here, but there are not many cards available in that format yet.

A 5-in-1 Multimedia port (supporting SD, Memory Stick , Memory Stick Pro, MMC, xD-Picture Card ) makes it easy to download pictures from digital cameras.

Ports include: 4 USB 2.0, Firewire, external microphone port, headphone port, VGA, DVI and S-Video out.

Heat and Noise

The dell laptop battery runs quite cool. During testing — including lots of benchmark runs, the unit never became hot to the touch. I used the dell laptop battery on a solid surface at all times so the vents were unobstructed.

Toshiba employed a fancy touchpad surface on the dell laptop battery. It has an option button’ that when pressed allows you to activate a number of shortcuts. You get a visual cue that the short-cut mode has been activated when the touchpad becomes illuminated. It is a pretty nice technology and works well — it is quite easy to toggle on/off for access to short cuts. Like most notebooks in this class you also have a series of media control buttons above the keyboard.

Final Thoughts

Toshiba’s dell laptop battery series is a really nice home computer.TD347 It packs more punch than many desktops into a very small amount of space. With more than enough power for typical home computing tasks the dell laptop battery would be a fine choice as a family computer.

Build quality is excellent and it does not get hot or loud. Its smart looks won’t look out of place in your environment.

Value is a little tougher to measure. With its big screen and quality components I think the dell laptop battery-J100 in particular seems to be a good value (and I have seen it at retailers for about $100 less MSRP).

Suggestions to Toshiba: GD761 battery, KD476 battery, TD347 battery,1G222 battery
I might use a slightly stronger video processor as there is a huge difference between the Go 7300 used in this model and the Go 7900 GS used in the opt of the line gamer edition of the dell laptop battery.1G222 The dell laptop battery’s beautiful screen cries out for games

6 ways to Extend Your Laptop's Battery Life

1.Use the correct recharging procedure for your laptop. Only use the Compaq EVO N600C Battery power cord that came with your laptop or an authorized replacement.

2.Follow correct maintenance for your battery when not in use. Don't leave it in direct sunlight, areas where it will be exposed to extreme temperatures such as car trunks.

3.Use your laptop's power management features. The system will run at lower processor speeds when enabling power management features and it will go into "sleep" mode faster when inactive.

4.Buy batteries with internal processors such as Li-Ion batteries.

5.Non Li-Ion batteries must be fully discharged and then recharged every 2-3 weeks.

6.If you don't use your laptop for a period of time, you must fully discharge then recharge the battery.

Does your laptop spend more time on your desk than your lap? If so, you're probably causing your battery to wear out much sooner than it needs to.

See, it's a sad (and expensive) fact of life: You're lucky to get 18-24 months from a battery before it loses a good chunk of its charge capacity (meaning it no longer powers your laptop for as long as it used to).

And you're accelerating this unfortunate timeframe Compaq EVO N600C Battery if you leave your laptop plugged in 24/7, which is common for most folks who work at a desk. Because the battery rarely (if ever) gets a chance to discharge, it loses its capacity to hold a charge.

The simple solution: Pull the battery out of the laptop and leave it out when you're deskbound. Most laptops can run on straight AC power, so there's no need for the battery. And it's easy enough to pop back in when you hit the road (though obviously you'll want to make sure it's charged, so plan ahead a bit).

It's a hassle, sure, but consider the price of a replacement battery: usually $100 or more. What's more, old, discarded batteries wreak havoc on landfills. Sooner or later, they'll leak acid into the ground. So it's in your best interests to keep your battery as long as possible, and to keep it from dying a Compaq EVO N610C Battery premature death.

Turn Vista's Sleep Button Into a Power Button

As a recent Windows Vista convert (I just couldn't cling to XP any longer--a subject for another day), I'm mostly liking the OS. But I do have one small grievance: When I click the Start button and then click what looks like a power button, my system doesn't actually shut down. Instead, it goes to sleep.

Hey, Microsoft: I don't want it to go to sleep. I want it to shut down! But that requires an annoying extra step: I have to mouse over to another menu and choose Shut Down from a list of half a dozen options. If I'm in a hurry, it's way too easy to inadvertently click the wrong wrong.

Fortunately, there's a way to reprogram that "sleep" button to become Compaq EVO N620C Battery, an actual power button. Here's the process in a nutshell:

Wow, could Microsoft have buried that setting any deeper? Thankfully, Windows 7 makes it much easier to reprogram this button's function. Now if we could just get an honest-to-goodness Shut Down button that doesn't require a visit to the Start menu, we'd really be making progress.

Laptop batteries tips

Laptop batteries have finite life spans. Whether you use the power cord and remove the battery it will lengthen the life of the battery.

Li-Ion laptop battery lifespanAsus Laptop Battery is approximately 1000 charge cycles, or 2-4 years under normal operating conditions.

Keeping the battery in a cool place can prolong its life but not in a period of extended storage. The Li-ion battery should be stored at 40 percent rather than full-charge state.

The battery ages even if not used. For best results, keep the battery cool. In addition, store the battery at a 40 percent charge level. Never fully charge or discharge the battery before storage. The 40 percent charge assures a stable condition even if self-discharge robs some of the battery's energy. Most battery manufacturers store Li-ion batteries at 15°C (59°F) and at 40 percent charge.

Keeping a laptop battery on constant charge is and never using it is not good for the laptop battery. Run the battery Asus A42-A3 Battery down and recharging it at least once every month.

Apple Tablet is still not around and HP has moved a step further by launching it with a 13.3″ screen size and a 2Gb of Built-In Memory. Pavilion dv9000 Battery(dv9000 battery), EV087AA Battery,These kind of tablets which cost 249$ are seriously going to kill the Amazon Kindle & Digital Photo Frame markets because those also cost somewhere around in these price range and offer just a display rather than input and output. How to Speed Up Your Windows XP Netbook

It is of utmost concern for every user to speed up their laptops in order to manage and execute a plethora of tasks more efficiently and in an organized manner. Speaking for a particular case, speeding up one’s Windows XP netbook which is a mini laptop requires certain important measures to be properly understood and applied.

Windows Xp Netbooks

The clutter on the hard disk space is needed to be cleaned up. The extra files, the unused videos and audios which have no chances of being used in near future and other various sorts of unnecessary files needed to be cleaned up. There must be some absolutely free space in the hard drive, preferably one fifth of the total space. There are several other ways to rejuvenate the booting process and the working speed of the Windows XP netbook.

It is advised to display rather simple wallpaper on the screen which will add a bit to the speed. Moreover, EV087AA Battery it is suggested to upgrade the netbook with latest hardware accessories so that the speed of the system is enhanced to a considerable extent. If there is more than one program on the run, the user must aim to make the load on RAM lesser by simply minimizing the unused applications. Also, at the end of the day it’s the user who has to take the final decision that whether he really wants to run those dazzling animations at the background and compromise with the netbook’s speed.

Another important point is to try to start the Windows operating system only (by pressing down the Shift key), not the whole system of the netbook. To speed up the Windows XP Netbook, it is advised to lower the display screen’s overall resolution. Also,Pavilion dv9000 Battery(dv9000 battery), EV087AA Battery, it is wisely suggested to perform regularly a defragmentation procedure of the hard drive that is very significant at the present context due to the reason that it will definitely allow a faster access to the required information and relevant database.

Sum and substance if the above mentioned measures are diligently followed then it would just be a cakewalk to speed up the Windows XP Netbook.
